Someone, Please!
Got this here email flyer about a Architects’ Convention and I need ya’ll to ‘splain this un:
“Keynote host Roman Mars will interview Virgil Abloh, the artistic director for Louis Vuitton's menswear collections, about democratic design and intellectualizing the mundane.”
from an AIA poster promoting the upcoming National Convention in LA. [minus 5 points for an unnecessary comma]
Hey, wait a minute. That’s my professional organization and they talking to me! Lemme set the bong down. ‘Democratic design’–we gonna vote on design now? Whole reason I became an architek was to order people about what to do with their buildings like Howard Roark usta do in the good old days. Do I got a vote? I got my old STRIKE poster from the anti-war days, maybe join the march?
Intellectualizing the mundane? Son, do I have a doobie for you. Here, get right down to intellectualizing fuzz on the damn carpet. You’ll see visions, I swear!
And what about them women folk–ain’t they got rights to a collection? I’m down with the women folk. I like ‘em alright.
What I really like is the dude’s paperclip necklace. So way cool. I used to make those when I was tired of drawing lines. But he’s sure looking steely, and so very creative. Good jaw definition–like Howard Roark. Manly even, and that’s important—to impress the women folk.
Wish I could hire his media company…
