Before they built the damn in the 1900s, Hetch Hetchy Valley was a twin to Yosemite.

What A Difference A Week Makes.
We slunk away from the Outer Banks last Saturday– all those native islanders yelling ‘get going, gringos!’ in southern accents of course. I kid the Outer Bankers. We had workmen coming and going all last week, fixing stuff we’d put off doing, all of them hardworking, cheerful people. They were easy to reach for a change; work’s already getting scarce down there, which says something about how it’s slowing down; people must not think there’ll be much of a tourist season this year on the Outer Banks, what with the virus driving the agenda.
Coming back on I-64 to I-95, we rarely had to take it off cruise control–I can’t remember the last time I saw traffic that light.
So most people are hunkering down. In our neighborhood, people I’ve never seen are outside walking. New dogs, too. Still no toilet paper at the grocery stores.
This week’s another photo gallery. In case you think this was whipped together quickly, someday when you’re bored, I’ll tell you what a pain editing photos can be. But a number of them came out pretty well, and I hope you enjoy them.
The blog’s a joke (well, of course it is). Just trying to make people happy.
Stay in doors and get back to that Infinite Jest novel your started last year and swore you’d read when you had time. What else you got going? Time to numb your brain–oh no, not like that.
East of the dam, there’s still beautiful country in the Sierra Nevada.
