I grew up in a bastion
of Irish resistance running
deeper than a southern slough
the slough I searched for cray dads
my Granny didn’t think so much
was good in that slow land but still
she stayed on for the mission
living for the offspring was
nothing I knew then.
Talk about me all y’all want
dead and buried I won’t care
