The photos have nothing to do with the blog. The Outer Banks photos were taken on a hike at the Pine Island bird sanctuary before D dragged me back to the real world.

The snow scenes are out our back window. It’s just that time of year, and I dragged out my Nikon. These shots have more to do with the short piece on Medium, Preparing to Nap.

I’ll admit to being caught unawares by our eight inch snow storm, followed by the surprising drop in temps and a curious absence of snow removal crews. The previous week in Sanderling had been in the 60s and 70s.

Then the bottom dropped out, and Layla was thrilled. If you’ve never seen a husky slide down a hill on her back with legs akimbo, you’ve missed out on a sight. I should have shot that one, too. May not have been so pretty, but she’s damn cute. Say Amen. Amen.
