Yeah, you’re seen it before, but I like it—and it relates to the piece on Medium about Padgett Powell.

Layla likes the porch in the summer, in the shade on the cool concrete. But in twenty degree weather, why would you want to spend time on a porch when upstairs is an open air deck with a nice bed of snow to nap on?

I read advice recently that one should get straight to the point when writing non-fiction. That’s indeed one way. On the other hand, if you can tease readers with a rambling intro, that’s another. This week’s Medium article is a slow tease, and here’s hoping readers hang in there.
