Responses to A Good Dog
If I would check my Medium page more frequently, I’d be able to brag, but the truth is, I’m busy being, ah, er, busy.
Imagine logging on and seeing the responses. Mind, the piece was published a few turns ago, and admittedly anything dog-related gets attention—even TV ads that have nothing to do with canines and much to do with selling stuff. Nonetheless, I’ll take a bow.
If you missed it: The Conscience of a Dog was a protest about another dog story I felt I needed to take issue with. It’s not comfortable taking issue with another writer’s work, but it wasn’t so much how he said it as what he said.

Last week walking on the beach with Layla the husky, a gaggle of women oohed and awed over her, she of the great charm and cuteness, then had themselves a great laugh when I commented that no one was going gagga over my blue eyes—they are, I swear!
I can’t get anywhere as far as Layla gets with hers. I’m very jealous. Maybe if I dig holes in the sand and roll over to scratch my back waving my legs like ain’t it good to be alive? I did have blonde hair as a baby. It could work.
So here’s deal: if you want a copy of the book, Dogs and Disturbances, I’ll mail a signed one free to a legal address—or a PO box if you need to stay anonymous.
And if you want to be the first to read a crime story based on the Outer Banks, get in touch.
