Being retired is such a tasking job. Really. Staying focused to finish just one project is hard. I only completed one essay for publication—the second one’s just a funny.
Alison, the editor for Write & Review, says she thinks the dog story, One Last Run is good – but then she’s a very charitable person.
A story I wrote a while ago still gets the occasional read. This morning I received an essay in response. Reading the first bit was touching:
“Bill, your story of the tree and of Ryan is a quiet, fierce witness — it asks us to hold grief and stewardship at once and to turn memory into care. **“And indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” (Quran 13:11)…” Mohamad
This Tree was my story.
Half the story has been highlighted since it was published. You can find the rest of Mohamad’s essay in the comments. If I thought everything that flicks through my brain were worth this kind of response, I’d die a happy man.
This month’s Medium piece is another husky tale (tail?) about another person’s story. I get the feeling were I to ever meet Blair Braverman, I wouldn’t let her leave until I’d heard more. I feel for her—walking away from a marriage along with the sport she did for decades is just tough.
Sally in Paris, the book’s out, and I’m doing my best to promote it.
I still need readers, so if your email works, let me know.
