A young eagle has been fishing in the cove the past few days, doing well at hooking his dinner. You see a flash of wings as he drops to the water, a nice splash and he’s off again, dinner in claws. Flies to a nearby tree branch and eats it.
He’s not quite an adult, but his wingspan gives him away soon as you see it. As his gray-tawny body and white head do. He does this little shake like a dog might as he’s climbing back into the air to rid his wings of water. Pretty cool.
The blue herons aren’t nearly as dramatic as he is. They’ll walk the seawall slow step at a time, then freeze like statues and wait. Their powers of concentration are impressive. And successful.

I enjoy making fun of Jeff Bezos and Wapo, but I’ll admit I read the front page every day. Before Bezos’s investment to rebuild the newspaper, you could hear the death rattles. Bezos should feel serious satisfaction for the investment he’s made.
On the other hand, it would seem Elon Musk bought Twitter to unchain Melkor.
One to the good and the other, we’ll have to wait and see.
